Meet IDEXX

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. is a global leader in pet healthcare innovation, supporting professionals in advancing animal health. With a strong focus on innovation, IDEXX partnered with BrainStorm to maximize the adoption of Box, a cloud-based content management company that provides tools for file storage, collaboration and sharing. This effort aimed to improve workforce productivity, strengthen security, and improve collaboration at scale.

The challenge

After IDEXX’s initial rollout of Box to employees, IT faced significant challenges in getting employees to fully adopt the tool. Inconsistent use limited the security benefits and made it more difficult to maintain effective file management practices. Employees also struggled to capture the full value of the tool due to limited knowledge of Box’s broader features and capabilities.

The lack of targeted and consistent training left both new hires and current staff unequipped to make the most of the platform. These issues underscored the need to find a better way to engage end users in learning and drive change in their usage patterns.

The process and solution

IDEXX collaborated with BrainStorm to build and carry out a targeted adoption campaign. BrainStorm’s software adoption platform gives busy IT teams everything they need to reach and teach end users at scale with its adaptive courses and rich reporting. BrainStorm helps organizations onboard and train employees on the technology, processes, and skills that enable their digital success.

IDEXX used BrainStorm to implement a tailored Box Productivity Plan, including automated new hire Box training to ensure early and effective use of Box from day 1, as well as ongoing adoption initiatives to deepen and sustain usage over time.

Key components included micro- learning courses like “Meet Box in Teams” and “Which App When?” to clarify how Box integrates with Microsoft 365 for optimal end-user usage and adoption.

Critical components of the strategy included:

  • Process-integrated, automated onboarding programs to ensure employees adopt Box from day one.
  • Messaging campaigns to engage users in learning with relevant communications and product tips.
  • Embedded polling to gather user intent for integrations and specific features, collecting actionable insights for IDEXX’s broader adoption strategy.
